Barnabas Collins, an imprisoned vampire is set free after two centuries and is saddened to find his ancestral home in ruins. His dysfunctional descendants are in serious need of his help. Barnabas Collins and his family move from Liverpool, England to America in the year 1792. He falls in love with the family s maid Angelique Bouchard but his parents don t approve of their marriage. In a fit of anger, Angelique who happens to be a witch kills Barnabas s parents. Barnabas is puzzled by the mystery that surrounds his parents death as he is unaware of Angelique s true identity. He then falls in love with Josette du Pres. Angelique is overcome with jealousy and puts Josette under a curse and throws her off a cliff. Overcome by grief, Barnabas jumps off the same cliff but is saved by Angelique as she turns him into an immortal vampire. He is them imprisoned for two whole centuries. When Barnabas is set free, he wakes up to find his manor inhabited by his eccentric descendants and their servants. He falls in love with Victoria as she reminds him of Josette. Angelique tries to win over Barnabas affection but he has his heart set on Victoria.
